Safety Tips

Children can drown in as little as an inch of water. Check for water left in cleaning buckets. Check for water left after a rain or from sprinklers. Never leave water in kiddy pools.

Consider keeping at least three fire extinguishers readily available, one in the kitchen, one in the laundry room and one in the garage. They should be mounted at a height each adult and older child can reach. Check them periodically to be sure they are adequately charged and not blocked.

Check play areas daily before children play outdoors. Look for standing water, poisonous plants, such as mushrooms, broken playground equipment or household tools or items that might have been left out.

When on the go with your toddler, especially in crowds, be sure your name and phone number (hopefully a cellular number) are on the toddler in case you get separated.
